France to loan Bayeux Tapestry to U.K. for first time in 900 years : NPR

The Bayeux Tapestry, a medieval depiction of the 1066 Battle of Hastings, will return to the UK on loan from France in 2026. The tapestry, considered the world's first war propaganda, is currently housed in Bayeux, Normandy. Its temporary relocation to the British Museum coincides with renovations at its French home and marks a significant cultural exchange between the UK and France. The loan, announced during French President Macron's state visit, follows negotiations that reportedly lasted longer than Brexit negotiations. In return, the British Museum will lend artifacts from across the UK to Normandy.
