Gunn's Vulnerable Superman: A Human Quest | JQJO

James Gunn's new Superman film, starring David Corenswet, offers a vulnerable portrayal of the iconic superhero. Gunn aimed to create a Superman who isn't a god, but rather a relatable figure struggling with his identity and humanity's perception of him. The film features a more physically flawed Superman, losing battles and grappling with his alienation despite his powers. Krypto, Superman's dog, and a nuanced Lex Luthor driven by jealousy and a need for approval, also play significant roles. Gunn emphasizes Superman's inherent goodness in a cynical world.
