Yankees DFA LeMahieu, ending 7-year run | JQJO

The New York Yankees designated for assignment veteran infielder DJ LeMahieu, ending his seven-year tenure with the team. The move, costing the Yankees approximately $22 million, comes after LeMahieu's offensive struggles and recurring injuries diminished his versatility. Manager Aaron Boone cited the difficult decision as necessary, noting LeMahieu's physical limitations impacting his ability to play third base. LeMahieu's departure follows the release of several other veteran players in recent years. The Yankees have added Jorbit Vivas to their roster to fill the infield position.
