The Diocese of San Bernardino, California, has become the first in the US to formally excuse Catholics from attending Mass due to fears of ICE raids on church property. Bishop Alberto Rojas issued the dispensation following two June incidents where immigration agents conducted detentions on diocesan properties. He cited the resulting fear and anxiety among parishioners, calling for an end to such tactics. While other dioceses have offered similar informal guidance, San Bernardino's is the first official dispensation.
