US measles cases hit highest number in 33 years: CDC

Measles cases in the US have surged to a 30-year high, with 1,288 confirmed cases across 38 states. This surpasses the 2019 and 2024 totals, exceeding 1,200 cases for the first time since 1992. The CDC reports 92% of cases are in unvaccinated individuals or those with unknown vaccination status. At least three deaths have been reported, all in unvaccinated individuals. While the overall risk remains low, outbreaks are concentrated in areas with low vaccination rates. The CDC continues to recommend MMR vaccination.
