TSA lifts shoe removal requirement at US airports

US airports have eliminated the requirement for passengers to remove their shoes during TSA security screenings, effective immediately. This decision, announced by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, ends a two-decade-old policy. The change reflects advancements in security technology and a shift towards a multi-layered screening approach. While belts, coats, laptops, and liquids still require removal, these rules are also under review. The shoe removal policy was implemented in 2006 following a foiled bomb plot.
