Rockies' Poor Record Spurs GM Shakeup | JQJO

The Colorado Rockies' poor performance (21-70) is fueling speculation about General Manager Bill Schmidt's future. Following the Washington Nationals' dismissal of their GM and manager, the Rockies' ownership acknowledges the need for change, with Schmidt potentially the next to go. The team, holding the No. 4 draft pick, needs to overhaul its operations and make aggressive moves at the trade deadline. Owner Dick Monfort admits the team's insular approach and loyalty to internal promotions have hindered success, and the Rockies are seeking a new head of baseball operations with experience at Coors Field.
