U.S. completes deportation of 8 men to South Sudan after weeks of legal wrangling

Eight men deported from the US in May, after a legal battle reaching the Supreme Court, have arrived in South Sudan. The men, from various countries including Cuba, Laos, Mexico, and Vietnam, were convicted of violent crimes in the US. Their deportation to South Sudan, a country deemed unsafe by the State Department, was initially delayed due to legal challenges but ultimately allowed by the Supreme Court. Homeland Security celebrated the event as a victory for law and order.
