Stanford University scientists have developed PIP-CpG, a molecule delivering immune-activating treatment directly to cancer cells. Unlike previous methods, PIP-CpG, administered intravenously, targets integrins on cancer cells, activating the immune system. In mice with aggressive breast cancer, three doses resulted in complete cures in some, and significantly extended survival in others. This targeted approach overcomes limitations of direct tumor injections, offering a potential breakthrough for various cancers, including hard-to-reach ones. The research, published in Cell Chemical Biology, highlights the potential for a safer and more effective cancer therapy.
