2,000-Year-Old Shoes Larger Than Any Known Roman Footwear Found!

Archaeologists at Magna Roman Fort in northern England unearthed eight unusually large Roman shoes, sizes equivalent to a modern US men's 15. This discovery is perplexing because large shoes are rare at other Roman sites, yet nearly a quarter of the shoes found at Magna are this size. The find suggests the fort's diverse population may have included soldiers from regions with larger-than-average foot sizes. The exceptional preservation of the shoes, due to the site's low-oxygen soil, allows for valuable insights into Roman life and military practices.
