Three state contractors involved in building Florida's Alligator Alcatraz immigrant detention center in the Everglades donated heavily to Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Republican Party. CDR Maguire and CDR Health, run by DeSantis allies Carlos and Tina Vidal-Duart, contributed $1.9 million. Other contractors, including GardaWorld and Gothams LLC, also made significant donations. The facility, which opened Tuesday with a high-profile event including Donald Trump, is designed to hold up to 3,000 immigrants. Environmental groups are suing the state over the Everglades location. Several contractors did not respond to requests for comment.
