NASA has confirmed 3I/ATLAS, initially called A11pl3Z, as the third interstellar object ever detected. Discovered by the ATLAS system, it's traveling at 152,000 mph on a remarkably straight trajectory. Initially thought to be an asteroid, it's now classified as a comet, exhibiting cometary activity. It will reach its closest point to the sun in late October and pose no threat to Earth. Astronomers worldwide are studying it before it becomes obscured by the sun.
