Microsoft Layoffs Hit Halo Studios; Employees Fired | JQJO

Microsoft's recent layoffs impacted Halo Studios, resulting in at least five employees being fired. The cuts, part of a larger 9,000-person reduction across Microsoft, are attributed to increasing "agility and effectiveness." The layoffs follow previous job cuts at Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) in 2023 and occur amidst a shift towards contracted studios and increased AI integration within Microsoft. While Xbox's financial performance remains strong, the atmosphere at Halo Studios is described as tense, with concerns raised about product quality and the impact on ongoing projects, including the next mainline Halo installment.
