American tennis player Jessica Pegula, the third seed at Wimbledon, suffered a surprising first-round defeat to Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Pegula, who recently won the Bad Homburg Open, described the loss as her worst result of the year. The match lasted just 58 minutes, with Pegula stating that a knee injury did not impact her performance. This early exit marks her worst Grand Slam performance since the 2020 French Open, halting her hopes for a deep run at Wimbledon.
