Police in Turkey detain satirical magazine employees over Prophet Muhammad cartoon controversy

Turkish police have detained four employees of LeMan magazine following publication of a cartoon depicting figures interpreted by some as the Prophet Muhammad and Moses. The cartoon, intended by the magazine to portray a Muslim man named Muhammad, sparked outrage and protests. Government officials condemned the image, accusing the magazine of insulting religious values. While LeMan apologized, it also criticized a smear campaign and called for freedom of expression. Detention warrants were also issued for two additional editors.
