France has implemented a strict new law banning smoking in public parks, beaches, swimming pools, and within 30 feet of schools and other areas where children are present. The ban, aimed at creating a "tobacco-free generation" by 2032, carries fines up to several hundred dollars. While supported by many, some critics argue the ban is excessive and that excluding e-cigarettes weakens its impact. The law is the most restrictive outdoor smoking ban in France to date, adding to existing indoor bans and high cigarette taxes.
