Hollywood Film Shoots at Daytona, Achieves Racing Authenticity | JQJO

The film "F1: The Movie," starring Brad Pitt, filmed opening scenes at Daytona International Speedway during the Rolex 24 Hours. IMSA's David Pettit facilitated the production, granting filmmakers access and overcoming logistical hurdles. While IMSA initially rejected a dedicated filming car, they collaborated with Wright Motorsports, integrating race footage authentically. Daytona International Speedway President Frank Kelleher ensured the film's authenticity, even advising against filming the victory lane scene until after the actual winner's celebration, showcasing a successful collaboration between Hollywood and motorsports.
