UFC fighter Christopher Ewert was released from his contract before even weighing in for UFC 317. His fight against Jackson McVey was cancelled due to Ewert's weight issues, despite his team's intense efforts to make weight. Ewert's coach, Javier Torres, explained that travel delays and UFC obligations hampered their weight-cutting process, despite dropping 22 pounds. They had requested a catchweight bout, but the UFC proceeded with the original weight class, resulting in Ewert's release.
