Google clarified an upcoming July 7th change to its Gemini AI assistant on Android. Initially, an email announcing Gemini's expanded app access (Phone, Messages, WhatsApp) regardless of 'Gemini Apps Activity' setting raised privacy concerns. Google now states that even with Apps Activity off, Gemini will only assist with tasks like sending messages, not access user data. Users retain control; they can disable Gemini's app connections anytime via a provided link or in-app settings. Privacy is maintained if Gemini Apps Activity is off; chats won't be reviewed or used for AI training.
