The HDMI Forum unveiled HDMI 2.2, supporting up to 16K resolution at 60Hz with a 96Gbps bandwidth. This is enabled by the new Ultra96 cable designation, indicating support for 64Gbps, 80Gbps, or 96Gbps bandwidth. The specification also includes Latency Indication Protocol (LIP) for improved audio/video sync. Ultra96-certified cables and devices are expected later this year, future-proofing the standard for higher resolutions and frame rates.
