Google banned from selling select Pixel phones in Japan

A Japanese court ruled that Google infringed on Pantech's patents in its Pixel 7 series, banning sales in Japan. The patent relates to 4G signal mapping technology. Google's "insincere attitude" contributed to the ban. Pantech, a Korean company now focused on patent monetization, is pursuing bans on Pixel 8 and 9 series as well. While the Pixel 7 ban's impact might be limited, further bans could significantly affect Google in a key market like Japan where Pixel sales have boomed.
