Tesla's robotaxi service, launched in Austin on June 22nd, is undergoing early access testing with select users. Initial livestreams reveal a user-friendly app similar to Uber, with a flat $4.20 fare. While mostly smooth, some incidents included lane violations, speeding, and questionable pick-up/drop-off locations. However, the robotaxis demonstrated safe braking, lane changes, and navigation in various conditions, including nighttime driving. The NHTSA is aware of these incidents and is investigating. Tesla's robotaxis utilize eight cameras and Tesla's FSD software.
