Boeing failed to provide training to prevent MAX 9 midair emergency: NTSB

The NTSB harshly criticized Boeing's safety culture and the FAA's oversight following a January 2024 incident where a 737 MAX 9 cabin panel blew out mid-flight. The board cited inadequate training, missing bolts, and a failure to address known production issues for over a decade. The incident led to a criminal investigation, Boeing's CEO stepping down, a two-week grounding of the MAX 9, and a production cap. The FAA claims improved oversight, but maintains the production cap until safety concerns are fully addressed. Boeing admitted fault and is working to improve safety protocols.
