The Vera C. Rubin Observatory released its first images, captured by the world's largest digital camera. The initial image of the Virgo Cluster contains 10 million galaxies, many unseen before. This 3200-megapixel image is part of a larger project to create a 10-year time-lapse movie of the universe, amassing more data than all other optical observatories combined. This data will be publicly accessible and used to study dark matter, dark energy, and potentially discover millions of new asteroids.
