Simple blood test capable of identifying if you will rapidly develop severe Alzheimer's

A new study reveals a simple blood test can predict the rapid progression of Alzheimer's disease. Researchers at the University of Brescia used the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index to assess insulin resistance in 315 patients with cognitive deficits. Those with high TyG scores experienced a four-times faster decline over three years. High TyG was linked to blood-brain barrier disruption and cardiovascular risk factors, suggesting insulin resistance accelerates Alzheimer's progression. This finding could help identify patients for clinical trials and support services.
