Regime change won’t stop Iran from pursuing nuclear ambitions

Israel's potential military strike on Iran, aimed at halting its nuclear program, is unlikely to succeed. No Iranian regime, past or present, will relinquish nuclear ambitions. This action may even accelerate Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons. Iran's nuclear aspirations predate the 1979 revolution; the Shah significantly expanded the program in the 1970s, mirroring current Western concerns about regional nuclear proliferation. Even under the Shah, who enjoyed close ties with the US and Israel, Western discomfort with a nuclear Iran existed. The current situation highlights the enduring challenge of Israeli and US opposition to a powerful nuclear Iran, regardless of its leadership.
