U.S. Steel ceases trading on NYSE as Japan's Nippon finalizes takeover

Nippon Steel's acquisition of U.S. Steel is complete, resulting in the delisting of U.S. Steel from the New York Stock Exchange. The deal, initially blocked by President Biden due to national security concerns, was approved after President Trump's administration ordered a review. Despite Trump's claims of a 'partnership' that would keep U.S. Steel American-owned, the company is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nippon Steel. Trading ceased Wednesday, with the delisting effective June 30th. U.S. Steel will retain its name and continue operations.
