BoJ Governor Ueda discusses policy outlook after maintaining interest rate

The Bank of Japan (BoJ) held its key interest rate steady at 0.5%, extending its pause in rate hikes for the third consecutive meeting. Governor Ueda cited moderate economic recovery and rising inflation expectations but acknowledged uncertainties from global trade policies and rising food prices. The BoJ also slightly adjusted its bond tapering plan, aiming for a gradual reduction in bond purchases. The USD/JPY exchange rate showed minor fluctuations following the announcement, remaining within its recent trading range.
