Mario Kart World for the Switch 2 debuted at the top of the Japanese charts, selling 782,566 copies in its first week. The Switch 2 console itself had a record-breaking launch, selling 947,931 units, surpassing the PlayStation 2's previous record. Other top-selling titles included Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and both Zelda Switch 2 titles. The Switch 2's sales significantly outpaced other consoles, including all the PlayStation 5 models combined.
