Greta Thunberg departs Israel on flight to Paris after detention aboard aid ship

Climate activist Greta Thunberg and other activists were detained by Israeli forces after their aid ship, Madleen, was intercepted while attempting to deliver aid to Gaza. Thunberg has since departed Israel for France. Five other crew members, including a French Member of the European Parliament, refused voluntary departure and will be deported. Israel justified its actions citing a blockade of Gaza, while Amnesty International condemned the interception as a violation of international law. The incident highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, exacerbated by Israel's blockade and a new, criticized aid distribution system.
