NASA's Mars Odyssey orbiter captured a stunning panorama of Arsia Mons, a massive Martian volcano, peeking above a cloud layer. The image, taken on May 2nd, provides a rare perspective of the volcano's summit against the planet's horizon. This is the fourth such limb observation by Odyssey's THEMIS camera since 2023. The unique viewpoint allows scientists to study Martian weather patterns and cloud formations, providing valuable data before the orbiter's anticipated retirement later this year. Arsia Mons, at 12 miles high and 70 miles in diameter, is one of Mars's cloudiest volcanoes and part of the Tharsis Montes.
