The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced the killing of Mahmoud Muhammad Hamid Kuhail (Abu al-Mu’tasim), commander of Kataib al-Mujahideen's military wing, and As’ad Abu Sharaiya, the group's head, in a Gaza airstrike. Kataib al-Mujahideen, linked to the October 7, 2024 massacre in Israel, is a relatively small but lethal group responsible for attacks including the murder of the Bibas family and the Haggai couple. The IDF described the operation as a step towards closure for the victims' families. Hamas, which controls Gaza, has long used such groups for attacks against Israel.
