Thailand closes border to tourists after Cambodia clash

Following a military clash that killed a Cambodian soldier, Thailand has temporarily closed two border crossings to tourists due to heightened tensions with Cambodia. Both countries have increased their troop presence in the disputed border region, near the Emerald Triangle. While trade and Cambodian worker entry remain unaffected, Thailand cites sovereignty concerns. Despite a planned June 14th bilateral meeting, Cambodia has indicated it will file a complaint with the International Court of Justice, escalating the ongoing border dispute that has seen intermittent violence since 2008.
