Dupont Circle park in Washington, D.C., will be closed this weekend during Pride celebrations despite initial uncertainty. The National Park Service cited public health and safety concerns, as well as resource protection, as reasons for the closure, following a request from the U.S. Park Police. The closure, initially announced earlier this week, was met with debate among city leaders before ultimately being confirmed. Fencing is being erected in anticipation of the weekend festivities.
