El Salvador deportees are entitled to due process, judge rules

A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to allow approximately 200 migrants deported to El Salvador under the Alien Enemies Act to challenge their detentions. Judge James Boasberg ruled that the men, many lacking US criminal records, were denied due process. The White House contested the ruling, asserting the judge lacked authority to intervene in immigration or national security matters. The deportation, involving alleged members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, stemmed from the administration's invocation of the 18th-century Alien Enemies Act.
