Supreme Court rejects Mexico lawsuit against US gunmakers

The US Supreme Court unanimously rejected Mexico's lawsuit against US gun manufacturers Smith & Wesson and Interstate Arms. Mexico argued the companies' practices fueled the flow of illegal weapons into the country. The court cited the 2005 Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which shields gun manufacturers from liability for misuse of their products. The court found Mexico's complaint failed to plausibly allege the manufacturers aided and abetted unlawful sales to Mexican traffickers, despite acknowledging some guns reach traffickers.
