22 crew members rescued from lifeboat in North Pacific after ship carrying 3,000 cars catches fire

The crew of the Morning Midas, a cargo ship carrying 3,000 vehicles including 800 electric vehicles from China to Mexico, abandoned ship after a fire broke out in the Aleutian Islands. The 22 crew members were rescued by a nearby vessel. The Coast Guard is coordinating salvage and firefighting efforts, while the fire's cause and extent remain under investigation. A similar incident earlier this month involving a freighter carrying electric vehicles highlighted safety concerns on large cargo ships.
