Attack on Aid Convoy in Sudan Kills 5, U.N. Says

A UN humanitarian convoy carrying vital supplies to El Fasher, North Darfur, was attacked, resulting in the deaths of five aid workers and the destruction of several trucks. The attack, which occurred late Monday, targeted a convoy of 15 trucks from the World Food Program and UNICEF, halting the first aid delivery to the city in over a year. The convoy, carrying 1,100 tons of aid for 100,000 people, was ambushed after traveling 1,100 miles from Port Sudan. El Fasher, the last major city in Darfur held by the Sudanese Army, is under attack from the Rapid Support Forces.
