CDC Recommends Universal Measles Vaccination for Travelers

Read, Watch or Listen

The CDC has updated its travel advice, recommending measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccination for all U.S. travelers regardless of destination. Previously, the recommendation emphasized vaccination for travelers to countries with outbreaks. This change reflects a growing recognition of measles transmission during air travel and the increasing number of cases globally, exceeding 1000 in the US this year. The updated guidance advises two MMR doses for individuals aged 1 and older, with an early dose for infants aged 6-11 months traveling internationally.
