Severe Solar Storm Impacts Earth, Disrupts Technology

Read, Watch or Listen

A G4-level geomagnetic storm, the second-highest on a five-step scale, is impacting Earth. Triggered by a coronal mass ejection (CME) from active region 4100, the storm is causing elevated radiation, radio blackouts, and vibrant auroras visible far south. Power grids, satellites, and navigation systems are experiencing disruptions. The storm, expected to last until June 3rd, poses risks to power grids, pipelines, and high-frequency radio communications. Experts advise unplugging non-essential electronics and monitoring updates from the Space Weather Prediction Center.
