The skulls of 19 Black patients who died at New Orleans' Charity Hospital in 1871-72 have been repatriated from Germany. The skulls, sent to a German doctor researching now-discredited theories linking skull shape to intellect, were part of a collection that included that of 23-year-old William Roberts from Georgia. After 150 years, Leipzig University returned the remains to New Orleans.
