Archaeologists have unearthed a significant 3,000-year-old Mayan complex in Guatemala's Petén region, comprising three sites: Los Abuelos, Petnal, and Cambrayal. Los Abuelos, featuring human-like rock figures and sanctuaries, is believed to have been a ritual center. Petnal boasts a 33-meter pyramid with murals, while Cambrayal reveals unique water canals within a palace. This discovery, part of the Uaxactún Regional Archaeological Project, expands understanding of Mayan urban development and ritual practices.
