Apple to change the way it names operating systems, report says

Apple will reportedly change its operating system naming convention, moving from version numbers (e.g., iOS 18) to year-based naming (e.g., iOS 26). This change, to be announced at WWDC on June 9th, aims for clearer branding across Apple products. The update will affect iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. Alongside the name change, Apple is expected to unveil new user interfaces, updated AirPods features, Siri improvements, Vision Pro headset updates, and several new AI features.
