Over 300 UK and Irish writers, including Ian McEwan and Zadie Smith, signed a letter demanding an immediate Gaza ceasefire and unrestricted aid. The letter, which begins with a poem by a slain Palestinian poet, condemns the violence on both sides, calling Israeli actions 'genocide' and Hamas actions 'crimes against humanity'. It calls for the release of hostages and denounces antisemitism while demanding sanctions against Israel if a ceasefire isn't implemented.
