SpaceX's Starship rocket launched successfully from Texas on May 27, 2025, reaching orbit. However, a fuel leak caused the upper stage to spin out of control, resulting in an uncontrolled reentry and disintegration over the Indian Ocean. Mission control lost contact with the upper stage. Despite the loss of the upper stage, SpaceX considers the test a success due to the data gathered. The company plans to continue developing Starship for future missions, including eventual human travel to Mars.
