SpaceX successfully launched Starship's ninth flight test on May 27th. The Super Heavy booster separated from the Ship upper stage but was lost over the Gulf. Ship continued its sub-orbital trajectory, aiming for an Indian Ocean splashdown. Elon Musk's planned pre-launch talk was delayed until after the launch. The flight, which included deploying dummy Starlink satellites, aimed to improve upon previous test failures and progress toward operational status, including future lunar and Martian missions. This launch marked the first reuse of a Super Heavy booster.
