Far-right marchers attack Palestinians as Israel marks taking of Jerusalem

Far-right Israeli marchers attacked Palestinians in Jerusalem's Old City during the annual Jerusalem Day parade, commemorating Israel's 1967 capture of East Jerusalem. Chants of "death to Arabs" and other nationalist slogans accompanied the violence. Opposition leaders condemned the event as a display of hatred and racism. Israeli police intervened, detaining some marchers. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound further fueled tensions. The Palestinian presidency condemned the march and Ben Gvir's actions, citing threats to regional stability. The events coincided with the ongoing war in Gaza and escalating tensions in the West Bank.
