Jerome Powell Says He Saw Economics As 'Boring and Useless' in College

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, a Princeton graduate in politics, revealed in his Baccalaureate address that he initially found economics "boring and useless." His post-graduation experience included working in a warehouse, followed by law school and a career in investment banking and government. He joined the Federal Reserve in 2012, becoming chair in 2017. Despite former President Trump's criticism and calls for his dismissal, Powell stated he cannot be legally fired.
