Top Red Sox prospect Marcelo Mayer is getting called up to the major leagues. His promotion follows an injury to third baseman Alex Bregman. Mayer, the #4 overall pick in the 2021 draft, has impressed in Triple-A with a .271 batting average and .818 OPS.
