The Boston Red Sox called up highly touted prospect Marcelo Mayer from Triple-A Worcester. This promotion follows the unfortunate news that Alex Bregman's injury is more serious than initially thought, placing him on the 10-day IL. The Red Sox also transferred Triston Casas to the 60-day IL and made corresponding roster moves, recalling Luis Guerrero and designating Sean Newcomb for assignment. Mayer, boasting a strong Triple-A record (.271/.347/.471), is set for his MLB debut.
